Best of 2011 Day#4

Today is for all those boys out there filling each page with love! As you may or may not know...I read for the boys! Yes it's a guilty sin of mine.... ;) Anywho! Here are my loves this year!! :D <3 <3 Some of these I was lucky enough to have an actual could be image of the boy but some I had to just use their book cover!

10. Josh from Hereafter by Tara Hudson. This boy is sooo cute! ^-^ He cares about Amelia full-heartedly and is not afraid to stand up to his grandmother and say he is going to be with her however he can. He is literally like a breath of fresh air. He is laid back and normal. He has a kind heart and is patient. Love him!
9. Jace Wayland from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. This boy has a mouth! I love his sarcastic witty banter! I can't help but laugh! He is a tortured soul and I can't help but feel bad and want to comfort him. Plus psh! He is HOT! ;)
8. Kai from Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning. That over there is MY button of him. Like it no? Yes? go vote for it here: VOTE! Ok sorry had to advertise there lol :) Ok this boy is also one smokin hott boy! Thos eyes! Ugh gorgeous! They are bright green! His past *sobs* So sad. His secrets *gasps* surprising but *sighs* it works out. Oh and his scythe! How he can fight and the power he beholds! Yupp this boy is crush worthy!

7. Asher from A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies. This boy is H-O-T!!! His dark black hair, his charisma, his smarty-pants attitude and his love for breaking the rules. Oh and he also loves Skye! ;) lol Sigh this boy gave me goosebumps! <3 Can't wait to see more of him in the next one! *wiggles eyebrows* Haha

6. Puck from The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. I have always been a sucker for the best friend. You give me a book with a best (guy) friend in it and I will fall in love with him. I did with Simon, Isaac, Lucas, etc. And there is no stopping me from loving Puck too. Even though Ash is my prince I love Puck. He is so protective and loyal, patient, and most of all understanding. He would do anything for Meghan. Even give her up to his sworn enemy just because she is happy. How cute is that? :D

5. Four from Divergent by Veronica Roth. Yess, I ADORE FOUR!! Ah! This boy! Let's see what can I say about him? Four is one beyond cute! And two....man I am literally at a loss for words! I love why he is nicknamed "Four" It' sooo cute! He is always there by Tris' side, making sure she is alright. He would do anything for her. The ending! OMG! THE ENDING!!!! :O Ya I can't really find much more to say about Four. He is just to amazing for words!

4. Alex from Delirium by Lauren Oliver. EEP! Alex! He. Is. ADORABLE! Every little thing about him makes him so very crush worthy! His eyes, HIM!, his past and secrets, his love for Lena, well pretty much EVERYTHING! I literally cried at the end! He does so much for Lena and never asks for anything in return. He thinks of her as perfect. He doesn't care about her past. He just loves her unconditionally! And I love HIM unconditionally! I really NEED Pandemonium!

3. Vincent from Die For Me by Amy Plum. Holy cow you guys! This guy is amazing! He is French! (BONUS!) He is a zombie/revenant! (BONUS!) He saves lives (BONUS!) He loves Kate! (CUTENESS POINTS) all of that and more equalled together= one totally smokin hot guy! I'll take two please!! :D Vincent is unbelievable! *sighs* I need a guy like Vincent! :/ lol

2. Patch from the Hush, Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick. *sucks in breathe* Do I really need to say anything? Than hottie over there to the left is Patch's cover model! *dies* Patch is....well, Patch is everything! He can be my angel, fallen angel, guardian angel, anyday! He has that bad boy vibe down to the max! From his Black hair to his black eyes, to his black shirt, black pants, to the tips of his black booted toes! This boy is the definition of HOT! I had goosebumps with his every line. He had my stomach doin flips and me holdin my breathe! *sighs, melts, dies!*

1. Ash from the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. I bet you saw this coming ha? But psh!! Who can blame me!? When you have a hot ice prince as so, who WOULDN'T fall in love!? Ash is so distant in the beginning but slowly but surely he starts to thaw out. He loves Meghan with everything fiber of his body! And the feeling is mutual. This Prince who could never be loved or love again falls in love! EEP! His story is breathtaking! I LOVE him! I don't know what else to say when it comes to Ash! And I bawled my eyes out after I finished The Iron Knight. Why? because it was over. It IS over! *cries again* I will miss you Ash, prince of the Unseelie Court. You will always sit on the throne above all the fictional boys I read about. And you will always own my heart! *wipes tears* You will be missed! :,)

So there they are! All the most amazing boys I have ever read about! I know I'm missing a few but there are WAY to many to list them all. In fact all the ones I love are already in a list (not in order though) just find the #TeamAsh button on the side bar and follow the link! :) These boyr are amazing and the reason why I read haha If you could put them all together and then give him to me I would be so eternally grateful! Haha Hope you enjoyed this! Don't forget about voting for your favorite books! (FORM) Voting closes tonight! Spread the word! :D

Welcome to Day 2 of the week devoted to all the Best of 2011!! :D So normally today would be Top Ten Tuesday and it still is just my take on it! Yupp I'm takin over! haha not really I'm just doin it my way today! :) So I will be featuring my favorite books I've read in 2011! Here goes nothin! :) Order is 10 to 1 (1 being my TOP fav!)

10. The Nightshade Trilogy by Andrea Cremer. I loved these books. These were the first werewolf books I have ever read and they were the perfect firsts! I absolutely adored Andrea Cremer's writing style and the world of the Keepers and Searchers and how it all tied together with the Guardians. Plus she created Shay! *sighs* I'm lookin forward to the last book: Bloodrose! :D
~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~
9. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I know these books have been out for awhile but I just read them this year. I had heard so much about them and told my brother to give them a try. After he finished the 1st one he told me how great he thought it was so I decided to. That was a wise move of mine haha not vain or anything but I'm glad I read these. It had loads of action! <3
~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~
8. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. This is another series that every one had already read. After this years YA-Crush Tourney  and how Jace beat Ash (my love of all time) I was curious about what made Jace so great so i finally got them all. Yes, so i read them for the boy (but isn't that what I do already) haha but now I can see why everyone is in love. Great books! Can't wait till the 5th! I guess now I have to read the Infernal Devices hah? :)
~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~~~
 7. A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies. This book blew my mind! It was such a gorgeous story. It made me fall in love. It's as simple as that. Asher *sighs* Ya. I kinda love this boy! Lol And then how....ugh you need to read it! That's all I have to say. <3 <3
 ~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~
6.  Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning. This book was plain out kick-ass! Jannie is one tough chica. I loved the whole story line! The characters and uhem *giggles* the ending! Kai is pure out HOTT-TASTIC!! I loved this boy with his skythe, his beautiful green eyes, secrets, and love. Well pretty much EVERYTHING. Not to mention this was my first ever ARC! And this was a great first too! Taryn is pure amazing! Loved this book!

~~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5. The Hush, Hush Series by Becca Fitzpatrick This series was also pure out AMAZING! I loved everything about it. I love Nora's character she was vulnerable but very strong when she needed to be. I love her best friend Vee! She is hilarious! And last but CERTAINLY not least....Patch! Dang he can be my angel ANY day!! Hot! Hot! Hot! And you wanna know what else is "Hot! Hot! Hot!? Nora and Patch's steamy relationship! I was literally swooning with every page Patch was on! *melts* *faints* *sighs dreamily* Book four needs to hurry up! (oh and look at those gorgeous black and white covers! Major cover love there!)
~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~
4. Die For Me by Amy Plum. Gosh I can't stop ranting and gushing on all these books! Sorry but the whole page is gonna be like this! Wow ok well one the setting: Paris! How better can that get!? Then add in some pretty amazing zombies! (My first zombie book and I LOVE!!) Now add in a totally hot-crush-worthy-obession-swoon-producing-heart-racing-off-the-charts-HOTT!-Frech-kick-ass-guy and see what you get: OUTSTANDING, AMAZING, BREATHTAKING work! I can't say much more it's just too amazing for words! Another sequel I am dying to have! (haha get what I did there! ;)

               ~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~
3. Divergent by Veronica Roth. And once again a book that blew my mind! I Love the whole world/situation Veronica created! The factions. The stimulation. Everything!! To prove how great this book is: I lent it to a friend who does not like books at all for a book report and she finished it all in ONE night! I think that proves my point! No? Then go read it yourself! You NEED! this book! Four! Sigh...Four! I love you!!! :D *crazy fan girl scream* I quote my non-readin friend: "I would have a mystery guy catch me after falling to my doom any day of it was a guy like Four!" Enough said! ;) Insurgent I needeth thou noweth! lol
~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~~
2. Delirium by Lauren Oliver. Ok so if you haven't heard me say this before I'll say it again. I was really hesitant to read this book. The whole "love is a disease" thing kinda through me off. Then we were assigned to a book report (yes the same one I mentioned as above. She read Divergent and I read Delirium.) I decided to give it a try. BEST. DECISION. I. HAVE. EVER. MADE!!!! No joke! I LOVED, OBSESSED over this book! The whole "love is a disease" thing worked out perfect! Alex...Dear sweet Alex! *cries* *wipes tears away* Sorry. At the mention of his name my heart lurches and my stomach constricts. Wanna know why! :D Ok! Just lean in close so I can whisper! *wispers* You have to find out for yourself! Buy this book people! Don't borrow. Don't get it from the library. NO!! You need to OWN this book! I also need you Pandemonium!! Hurry!!!!

*Drum role gets louder and faster

1. The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa. Are you surpised! haha If you know me well then no, you won't be surprised. But who can blame me!? This series is everything I love in books! Seriously EVER SINGLE THING in these books was perfect! I felt every emotion. Literally I bawled my eyes out in The Iron Queen! Ash! My dear beloved Ash! I LOVE him!! No boy has ever captured my heart like he has (fictional and non-fictional) ;) And Puck! I love you Puck! He is the best freind any one could ask for! Meghan starts of vulnerable and week but then she totally takes charge and becomes major kick-ass material! The world of The Neverever were the Fey dwell is beautiful! But don't let the looks fool you! It is dangerous! I loved every line! You guys HAVE to read these books! These are the books that awakened my book absession! I have always loved to read but these...THESE! Started the forest fire that will forever burn! Ya there is not enough words to stress my love! ;) <3 <3 <3

Interview with Kai Sterdam

Hey everyone, today I am interviewing (the hot, amazing, and hilarious) Kai from Taryn Browning's Dark Seeker. I will be asking him some random questions and he will answer, basic interview right?? Lol well her goes nothing!! :D
~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to Girls on YA Books Kai! How does it feel to be here?
This is my first interview, so it should be interesting.
Is Kai your actual name or is it short for something?
Yup, I was born with the name Kai Andrew Sterdam.
Do you remember much of your childhood? (If so what are some of your "brightest" memories of?)
You could say I was a normal teenager with an average childhood. You know, single family home in the burbs, two parents and a dog. I played baseball for my high school and got pretty good grades. I wasn’t the most popular but I certainly wasn’t an outcast. I was on course to graduate with a scholarship for baseball. I never had any siblings. But I guess that would just give me someone else to have left behind.
What was it like the day you were changed?
Hot. I lived in Tucson so other than the monsoon season, it was hot and dry. My friends and I were downtown. We checked out a few shops and grabbed something to eat, Mexican, I think. I remember buying some outdated cassette tape *laughs* I don’t even think anyone owns cassette players anymore. I don’t really remember much from the actual change, which is probably a good thing.
How hard was it to adapt to the world after you were given a heart?
Very, as you know. I did some horrible things trying to adjust to my newly granted humanity. After living so many years without a soul, suddenly feeling again was very overwhelming. It was hard to deny the part of me that was innately evil for so long.
If you had the chance to go back to the day you were "changed" would you take it all back and stop it? Why or why not?
Wow *exhales* I don’t know. I mean, of course I miss my old life, my human life, and my parents. But that would mean I’d never meet Janie. She’s taught me a lot about myself and who I want to be.
What was your first impression of Janie?
That she was stubborn, feisty, at times reckless, frustrating…should I go on? *laughs* But then I noticed something else…she was unbelievably adorable and irritating in the best way.
When did you realize you were in love with Janie?
I think I loved her before I even realized what love was. The night Jerome came to ask Janie to rescue Tanya, the thought of Janie going back into that lair alone terrified me. What I didn’t realize was it was because I cared about her. Somehow losing her seemed unbearable.
If you could have anything in the world what would it be?
Hmm, I don’t know. I kind of like life the way it is now. Janie and I working together to rid Baltimore of Daychildren. I guess if I could have one thing, it would be to go back in time and change the event that caused Janie to fear love. She lived so many years isolated from others for fear that she’d get hurt again.
Ok, so we know where the motorcycle came from (which is pretty freakin awesome by the way) but where did the scythe come from?
I’d like to say it’s as cool of a story as Janie’s, but no, my mother didn’t pass a deadly weapon down to me. She was more of the church-going type and less of the beheading type. It was after I’d been granted my humanity. I found it in some random shop and really liked it. I’ve been using it ever since. It’s definitely effective.
Would you consider yourself the romantic type?
Haha, no! I’m not really into the whole chocolate and roses thing. I guess I show my feelings through action…and sarcasm. Since meeting Janie I’ve gotten better at expressing my feelings in other ways.
What is it like having the power you posses and the skill to fight?
It’s cool. I like being able to do things that others can’t. They certainly come in handy when I’m up against a Daychild with an ability.
If you could describe yourself in three words what would they be?
Good-looking *smirks*, tough, flawed—but I’m working on that one *smiles*
What were your first thoughts when you stepped through the door and saw Janie's mentor and mother?
Some four-letter words for sure. I was to say the least, shocked…and then, well, regretful.
When did you decide that you were going to kill your own kind?
It took awhile. The transition back to humanity was excruciating. To suddenly have a conscience after all I’d done. It took a few months before I could even go out into society. Then one day I knew in order to make up for what I’d done I had to kill the monsters who took my life from me. Stop them from harming anyone else. I’m still working on that one.
~~~~~Thanks for stopping by Kai!! I had such a blast talking with you!! I can't wait to read more of your and Janie's adventures! Tell Janie Hi for me and kick some Daychildren butt while your out there!

Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning

 Dark Seeker (Seeker Series)
Author: Taryn Browning
Pages: 298
Goodreads synopsis:
For 17-year-old Seeker, Janie Grey, ridding the Baltimore streets of the undead is an inherited duty passed down from her Cherokee ancestors. Seeker Training Lesson #1: Never trust the undead. After her father’s tragic death, Janie creates her own life lesson: Love isn’t worth the risk. Both lessons are easy to follow until she encounters the flawed Kai Sterdam. At first, she believes he is the hybrid she is trained to hunt. But, when he has human traits, she determines she doesn’t know what he is. As Janie’s intrigue over who Kai is pushes her deeper into his mysterious past, she discovers a shocking truth that is even more harrowing than the evil they are up against. It’s a secret Kai wants to keep hidden, especially from Janie.

Ok so I know my side bar says that my next review would be of Mockingjay but I got lucky enough to receive Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning from Miss Browning herself. After finishing it last night I immediately knew thaat this review just couldn't wait.

This book was AH-MAZE-ING!!!! Ugh, I couldn't stop reading it! Taryn created such a well put together book and vividly created each scene that you knew exactly where they were at the time, what it looked like, the smell, temperature, etc. I loved how it switched to Kai's point of view every now and then, giving his input and the deep down feelings he had. This book can't be put into words. I am seriously at a loss for words. All I can say is buy it, read it, and love it!! Sigh, ugh I keep typing then erase because no madder what I put it just can't seem to give the book enough credit. For sure on my favorite list!!
After I finished I was left giddy and only craving more. Please tell me there is going to be more!

Janie is such a kick butt chica (or sorry, seeker) and I loved her!! She is strong, funny, and lovable. Being a seeker it is her duty to slay the vampires and daychildren of her area. She has been in high school for eight years now and hasn't reached the age of eighteen yet. Seekers go through a cycle where they repeat 4 years at a time in order to continue their duty to hunt the vampires and daychildren. Daychildren are a vampire/demon hybrid that are far more dangerous and develop to be more of a threat.

The daychildren start breeding there own and cause havic for both the vampires, which are evolving only trying to fit in with the humans and maybe even be accepted, and also for Janie. Now they are getting brave, coming into  Janie's territory and attacking high school  students. And if Janie's life wasn't complicated enough....one day a daychild attacks star wrestler Matt and Janie saves him but thats not the complicated part. Sometimes if a Seeker saves the life of a human the human will Imprint on the seeker. Woah there!! sound familiar to all you twilight fans? Yupp but I gotta give credit to Taryn I love the way she switched it up and I loved it honestly it can't be even compared to Twilight so forgget I said anything. (Anyways) Kai and Janie join together to help fight the daychildren and put a stop to their devious plan.

Her mom Isabel was also a seeker and is always there for support, except when it comes to Kai. With the exception of  her two friends from school, all she really has is her mentor, Abram, and her mother. Janie told herselfthat she would never get close to anyone so that she would never have to feel the pain of loss because of her father's death. She saw how bad it effected her mother and never wanted to experience it herself. That is until she meets Kai. Kai rubs her every wrong way  at first. She can't sense when he is coming, which she is supposed to because he is a daychild, he holds many secrets, and he is infuriatingly stubborn. As time goes on she realizes he probably won't ever leave her alone and he can be trusted. An big shocker.....they fall in love!!! EEP!!!

I just love the romance between the two. They slowly but surely develop feelings that they are unsure about and finally just give in until....Bum..bum.....bummmmm... *Gasp* (Your going to have to read it to find out my reason behind this dramatization)

Kai...dear, sweet Kai. Ok so guess what? I got me a new fictional boyfriend to add to my list! Kai is a hot mystery. He is a daychild but why are his eyes green when they should be black? why does his heart beat when it should be dead? why can't Janie pick up on his scent? why does he have a different scent? why does he have scars when he should fully heal after battle? and why is he hunting his own kind? All these questions are finally answered and I fell in love just as Janie did....well maybe I can just switch places with her, I wouldn't mind some action in my life, a little romance ;) and hey if you switch up the letters a bit and add a "d" it could totally be my name... Janie=Jaiden! Vualah!! hehehe.

Anyways back to Kai.. he is an absolute sweet heart who lives with a guilty consciousness and doesn't want to be lonely anymore. He truelly "feels" for Janie and would lay down his life for her in a heartbeat. Again I love how further into the book Taryn gave his view on things every now and then because I truly got to understand him and fell even more in love with him.

All in all I highly recommend this book. I loved it and surely you'll love it too! Everything about this book screamed amazing! The whole story line, the battles, the complications, the romance. Oh! and the ending, I almost died of a panic attack!! Again I just loved, loved, loved this book! Huge props to Taryn Browning, an amazing author and person! One of my favorites and a Great on my list!

Now for some amazing swoon worthy quotes:
**Warning content may be spoilery:
"She lay on the floor, out of breath and staring up as he hovered over her. 'Done yet?' He smiled victoriously. 'Nope.' Janie rolled out from under him, scrambling
back to her feet. She squatted into a sweeping circular kick along the floor, taking his feet out from under him. He landed on his backside. She slid over to him and raised her arm, pretending to plunge a dagger into his skull. Kai swiped her knee out from under her and she landed directly on top of him.'How about now?' he said, their faces only inches apart."

"'Janie—with you, life is always interesting,' he said.'
I never know what you’re going to do next.' He balanced
on his bike and drifted backward. He smiled. 'You keep
me on my toes, Janie Grey.' The bike’s engine roared to
life. 'Later.' He nodded and took off in a flash."

"His lips moved to the corner of her mouth and
kissed her gently. He drew back. His words were
hesitant, shaky, 'Janie I—'
Janie placed her finger on his lips. 'Just kiss me.'”

~Ok, so I cheated and posted three quotes instead of my usual two but...I couldn't help myself!! There are way to many!! hehe :)
