In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .Unearthly is just what is says above: a moving tale of love and fate. I absolutely adored this book! Most book now-a-days are about self-discovery. What am I? What world do I belong to? What am I capable of? Who are my real parent? Those are the questions the YA book's plot are based around(mostly). But this one...THIS one wasn't. No. This one was about destiny. I love how Clara already knows what she is, a quarter angel. What she isn't sure of: the person in her vision and what it is she is supposed to do.
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart. {Goodreads}
Now instead of finding out who SHE is we get to see who HE is!! :D And nothing is better than having a plot based around the him! In this case the him is Christian! I LOVE Christian he is sooo cute BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tucker!!! O. M!. G!!!! Tucker!! Man....Tucker is hilarious, sweet and loving. Even though he picks on Clara, he likes her... ALOT!
*sighs* his day fir her b-day!! *sighs, swoons, melts, dies,etc* Ya, I think you get the point! ;)
I really enjoyed Ms. Hand's writing style. It was simple and straight to the point. You understood it because it was easy wording. But at the same time it wasn't elementary easy. Sometimes I feel that authors try to hard to show they are a good writer by putting big fancy words in their story. Sometimes it's understandable. They need the bigger words to state a greater point, I get that! But sometimes it's plain out unnecessary. Normally you are fine with the simpler words and it gets on just fine! Cynthia played both traits (bigger and smaller words) perfectly. When a bigger word was needed it was there. When she knew using a smaller word would work just fine it was there!
Sometimes she would jump from time really quick and you would be a little confused for awhile and have to re-read the last sentence but I came to like it! I also enjoyed how she distinguished her characters. The mom bugged me a little because of how she was so short-answered but that was just part of the book, nothing to do with the writing. I loved each and every character though no-matter what. Although...Angela...Angela seems oddly suspicious but I'll find out more I guess and see if I'm right in the next book.
Oh! and do I even mention the way she crafted the ending? Yes, I shall.....The ending...o my goodness guys! The ENDING!! I was sooo not expecting that!! Thank goodness the second book comes out this week! I need more Tucker and answers! :D

“Tucker," I say. "I'm so glad you're still here."
I throw myself into his arms. He hugs me tightly.
"I couldn't leave," he says.
"I know."
"I mean, literally. I don't have a ride.”
