{13 Days of Halloween} D6- Halloween Worthy Quotes

And its Day 6! So far....
I've shown you some of the most ghostly reads
the most suspenseful reads
and the most witchy reads from the last year till now.

Titles are pretty
Covers are enticing
A premise is inviting.
But
Am I the only one who sometimes needs to open the book and you know..
read the first page or even sometimes a random page to make up your mind?
To get you hooked and excited to start?
I can't be.
.
.
.
So!
Here are some Halloween fitting quotes to get you a little more excited!
(keep in mind I'm still behind catching up on all the books from 2012
to now. That being said, some of these quotes are a little out dated.)
But!! Throwbacks are cool too!
(each book is linked to its Goodreads page)
.
.
.
The Ghostly:
.
“So . . . this means we’re buried in the same cemetery?”
He nodded, and then the tiniest smile crept over his features. When he spoke again, his tone had lost some of its bitter edge. “More proof that we’re fated to be together, don’t you think?”
“If that were the case, Eli, I’d have a whole graveyard full of choices, wouldn’t I?”
.
"Blood. Terrified, I stared at my crimson fingers.
'Surrender to me.'
'Never!" I yelled.
The thing's laughter rang over the pounding pulse in my ears. I realized in horror that I hadn't told my mom good-bye. I was going to die, and I hadn't even said good-bye....Just like Dad.
'I will have you. You are mine. Surrender'
A sharp pain shot up my abdomen. I watched as drops of blood seeped through my shirt. Run! I yanked off the high-heeled shoes. I could hear it laughing as I bounded down the patio stairs two at a time into the parking lot. Run! I had to get away. Another slash across my stomach.
'Never!' I screamed as I ran between the cars toward the Ferris wheel. A horrible ripping sensation filled my body--like Velcro ripping out my insides. Alden was right. These weren't just voices. Somehow this voice was making me bleed. It had entered my body. And now I was housing its soul."

The Suspenseful:
.
""
.
"Then I heard a scream.
When I whipped around, the dog cowerede so low she hugged the ground. Her owner held the heavy chain.  He must have jerked it.
The sick bastard smiled at me.
I swelled with loathing, brimmed with it. I'd never hated anyone as much as I hated him in that moment; my fingers itched with the violence they wanted to do but couldn't. So I turned and ran, to give my trembling limbs some relief from the fury that boiled up from a dark place I didn't know existed. My feet pounded the pavement, wishing they could trample the smile on that piece of filfth's face. and as the thought spiked through my brain, I saw it. The redneck's skull caved in, leaving a gaping, pulpy hole in the side of his head. A thick cloud of flies clogging his mouth. Blood staining the sandy dirt by the lumber pile in a wide, darkening pool around his body.
He deserved to die"

The Witchy:
.
“It's called Sunday school, but we are required to attend twice weekly: on Sunday before regular service and again on Wednesday evenings. There are two separate classes: one for children under ten, held in the classroom down the hall, to teach them basic prayers and the tenets of the Brotherhood's beliefs, and one for girls aged eleven to seventeen, to teach us about how wicked we are.”
.
“I heard the man and woman cry a warning as I frantically racked my brain for some sort of throat-repairing spell, which I was clearly about to need. Of course the only words that I actually managed to yell at the werewolf as he ran at me were, 'BAD DOG!'

Then, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a flash of blue light on my left. Suddenly, the werewolf seemed to smack into an invisible wall just inches in front of me....

"You know," someone said off to my left, "I usually find a blocking spell to be a lot more effective than yelling 'Bad dog,' but maybe that's just me.”
.
What'd you think?
Yeah, they're kind of old...

{Moonlit Rambles} BINTRR: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

"Books I Need to Re-Read"
.
This is something I think I'm going to start doing every month.
I'm still in school but I'm thinking when I graduate I also want to make it a monthly challenge.
.
The idea?
Every month choose a book/series I would like to re-read.
And actually re-read it.
I feel I get to carried away with all the new that I forget to go back and treasure
all the books that had already made me fall in love with.
I always say I'm going to do it and then never do because a book I'd
been waiting on already came out.
.
So I'm giving this a go as a way of holding me accountable to do this.

-

This month. In the spirit of the spooky, my book this month is:

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
Series: Mara Dyer #1
Author: Michelle Hodkin
Release Date: September 27, 2011

Mara Dyer believes life can't get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.

There is.

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.

She's wrong. {Goodreads}

...When?
The last time I read this book was the first time I read this book.
I read it (according to Goodreads) May 28, 2012. I believe the second book was coming out at the time I read it and knew I was going to love it so decided to catch up on the series.

“Thinking something does not make it true. Wanting something does not make it real.”
― Michelle Hodkin, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

...Thoughts before:
The first time I read it-
"This book had everything! Suspense, thrill, romance, a gorgeous boy that I just so happen to have fallen in love with and who just so happens to be in my top 5 favorite fictional boys, all equaling the perfect horror/mystery/paranormal book!"-from my review in 2012
Before the end of this post-
I remember being completely falling in love with Noah Shaw. I remember being really creeped out by it. I started reaching back into its memory and knew I had to re-read it this month.
I remember the chemistry between Mara and Noah was on fire. I remember being completely thrown off guard by the ending. I remember I wanted to keep this series forever.

“I was warned about you, you know."
And with that half-smile that wrecked me, Noah said, "But you're here anyway.”
― Michelle Hodkin, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

...Why?
Before I launched my blog again, I took stroll through my local Barnes and Noble, interested to see what was new, and basically all the books I had missed out on over the years. And then it happened, I came across The Becoming of Noah Shaw and my heart broke. The Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin is one of my most treasured series ever. Noah Shaw is one of those boys that completely melted my heart and set it on fire simultaneously. It took so many twists and turns and in general just gave me so many feels. Seeing a new series come out with Noah as the main character, I knew I had to have it but I also knew it had been years since I read the series that started it all.

Then came October and I was trying to prep all these spooky themed posts. (spoiler alert!) I was trying to rack my brain for some of the most creepiest books I had read to date and this popped up almost instantly and that nagging feeling of I really should re-read the series came clawing back. Then I struck gold! I figured this would be an awesome monthly series and new it was the perfect start!

“Fix me," I commanded him. "This thing, what I've done - there's something wrong with me, Noah. Fix it."

Noah's expression broke my heart as he brushed my hair from my face, and skimmed the line of my neck. "I can't"

"Why not?" I asked, my voice threatening to crack.

"Because," he said, "You're not broken.”
...After:
So, I thought it would be a great idea to insert some quotes for nostalgia and inspiration to me and to you guys. This pretty much damn well killed me. I took a little break from a midterm paper to write this (the brain needs a break sometimes you know!) and it took everything in me to not quit right then and there and start reading. These quotes are everything and there are so many great ones on Goodreads (here is the link if you want to torture yourself too). This solidified it. I'm putting all my other books on hold and starting this book ASAP.

Hold me to it!
Check on my goodreads stats and give me a budge.

What about you?
Are there any books you'd like to hold yourself accountable to re-reading?
Would you be interested in joining in on this monthly with me?
Let me know your thoughts on my book of choice and
your opinion on this new feature of mine!

~Review:
I have been dying to read this book for...EVER! And just like with every other thing having to do with my reading/blogging life....it was out on hold...because of school. But fear not!! School is over AND I have had time to read this wonderful amazing book!

This book had everything! Suspense, thrill, romance, a gorgeous boy that I just so happen to have fallen in love with and who just so happens to be in my top 5 favorite fictional boys, all equaling the perfect horror/mystery/paranormal book!

The characters were put together so well! Each and everyone of them had a likable (or not so likable in some cases) character. Following Mara's confusion and trying to figure out what was real and what was just a hallucination made for the best "wild-goose-chase" anyone could ask for!

Did I mention that I was pulling my hair out in some parts because it was so damn confusing!!? Or that I was biting my nails and the inside of my lip so much because it was making me flip out!!? Ya well I was doing all of the above. This book was not only funny, enjoyable, cute, and suspenseful but it was also sooo flippin FREAKY!!! Gah! They aren't lying when they say to read this book with the lights on that's for sure! Just by telling one of the freakiest parts to my brother made him want to stay up all night!

Oh....so! I have mentioned this new love of mine before right? Well, here he is again...in a little more...detail *laughs evily* hahaha jkjk! ;D This boy. Noah Shaw. WOW! Ya one ..he has GOT the looks! Now why?
Let me break it down for you...

  • He has the whole just-woke-up-out-of-bed hair....and looks hot!
  • Blue-grey eyes that you can just fall into....and looks hot!!
  • Cutest lips that can form into: hot crooked smile, hot devilish smile, hot shy smile, hot you-don't-want-to-know-what-I'm-thinking smile, etc's of smiles that melts your heart and gives your stomach the flips....and looks hot!!!
  • Has no choice but to wear the school uniform (he adds his own touch of style)...and looks hot!!!!
  • An animal person....which makes him hot!!!!!
  • Has that bad boy rep. but is sooo not the guy people make him out to be....which makes him HOT!!!!!!
  • Should I go on......?
Didnt think so.....ya OH!!! The way him and Mara are!!!! Ya....from beginning: OMG! HILARIOUS!!! the middle to end: O.M.G!!!! I freaking love the crap out of you!!? Seriously. like come alive and share some of those heated kisses with me huh?? ;) AND!!  his secrets......SQUEEEEE!!!!!! Gah! I just can't wait to get more of this boy when the second book comes out..which luckily isnt too far but...still not close enough! >:(

This book will intrigue you and keep your reading until you've had no chouce but to finish that night. You do NOT want to miss this series. That ending....that ending.!!! Seriously! You will have no say so in finishing this book from beginning to end then book to book....Good luck getting your sleep in for the next few days! ;)

Get this book. read this book. love this book. enjoy this book. and NEVER EVER forget this book!

Thanks for stopping by! :)
