{Review} What a Boy Needs by Nyrae Dawn

What a Boy Needs
Author: Nyrae Dawn
Release Date: June 2012
Source: Bought
Format: ebook
Pages: 124
A companion novel to WHAT A BOY WANTS.

Since last summer, things have been screwed up between Jaden and Pris. He knows it's his fault, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to go a few rounds with her new boyfriend. He also knows he’s the loser his dad calls him, but it doesn’t stop him from wanting her.

After getting a huge bomb dropped on him, Jaden lashes out and lands himself in jail. Everything in his chaotic life is turned upside down and to make it worse, his mom kicks him out in order to side with his dad. Yeah, he’s totally a prize for a girl like Pris.

The group has one last chance for The Epic Adventure they've been looking for: a road trip to New York, where Jaden's friends will be going to college. Unfortunately, the more time Jaden hangs around Pris, the harder it is to keep the carefully constructed walls between them so she doesn't find out what a train wreck he really is.

When the trip ends, Jaden has to decide if he's ready to say goodbye to his friends, and the girl he loves. He knows what he needs, but will he be man enough to go for it?

Contains mature themes. Some sexual situations and language. {Goodreads}

~Review:
 Where to begin....I absolutely fell in love with book one to this companion, What a Boy Wants, and I fell just as in love with What a Boy Needs. Man oh man did I miss these bunch! Nyrae Dawn does a perfect job capturing the meaning of friendship, loyalty, love, and the struggles of finding you are and what you will fight for. I don't know how many times I choked up, laughed my freakin face off and smiled! There is so much love between each character. They practically scream family and their loyalty to each other is heart warming! Sebastian and Jaden had to be my favorite part(s) of this book (besides the love! DUH!!) ;D

  I loved getting to know Jaden on a deeper level. It was nice and also very very sad to see behind the scenes in his life. I felt so bad for him ad was costantly ruiting for him throughout the book. Also...I was ready to punch him too ;D Stupid boy wouldn't open up!! Haha but I totally didn't blame him. I love Jaden! Ant not just because we share a name haha I think I like Sebastian more but I tend to be attracted to the funnies and my friends...Sebastian is the definition of funny!

  This book was so cute and it totally had me from page one! If you are looking for a cute, funny, and all around really good quick read, this book is for you! And if you have yet to read What a Boy Wants.....go out and buy it ASAP! Then go and read Nyrae's recently released books! I sure know I will!! :D

{Review} Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Tiger Lily
Author: Jodi Lynn Anderson
Release Date: July 3
by, Harper Collins Children's Books
Source: Bought
Format: Hardcover
Pages: 304
Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up. {Goodreads}

~Trailer:
I love this video! Simple and beautiful!! <3

~Review:
  One, Woah! Look at that cover you guys! And it's even prettier in person! Let's just say I really really like seeing this on on my shelf! ;D Now..Let me just say: I wanted to fall in love with this book. Like crazy-head-over-hills-I-need-it-in-order-to-breath love it..like so many did. But sadly I can not say I did. I loved it but not as much as I hoped I would. Problem one: my expectations were way to high. And not just because of all of the hype this book was getting. I have an undying love for Disney's Peter Pan. I absolutely love Peter Pan! He is like my favorite childhood story and movie.

  Not seeing the problem? Here it is: I fell more in love (from childhood love for the story to young-adult fictional boy obsession...ya that's right. I have a crush on Peter Pan. haha) Laugh all you want! But this is why....Julie Kagawa! Funny how she always finds her way into my posts hah? ;) Anyways, she re-invented Puck. In her Iron Fey series she described the reason for the fae's immortality because of the stories. As long as stories are still being told about them, they live! So Grimalkin is also known as the cat from Alice in Wonderland and many more talking cats stories. Wolfe is the Big Bad Wolf and many other terrible wolf stories. Puck is the infamous Puck from A Midsummer's Nights Dream AND!!! I believe, Peter Pan. It fits 100%! Peter Pan and Puck both share these traits: the red hair (duh!!), the lack of being able to take much seriously, the constant need to be childlike, the need to pull pranks and keep into mischief, the devilish grin that screams trouble!! Think real hard and you will see the similarities and possibly share the same thoughts!

  Anyways, because I loved Puck SO MUCH and decided that he was also Peter Pan...I had a high expectation for Peter in this book. An expectation for him to be Puck-like. And because of that...I didn't like the book as much. I know, it is my fault. Nothing to do with the writer or the book at all. Just me and my thoughts that failed the book. This is a re-telling and things are changed. And a lot of the original story was changed. The ending! OMG! Ya, so not how I remembered Disney's movie going!!! I got choked up. So sad!! :(

  Now, Puck let-down aside, this book was amazing! Jodi did a wonderful job re-telling a price-less classic. And one of my most favorite things: Tink's POV. I will be honest, it took me awhile to get into the swing of it. But, I have problems with third person POV's. I really don't like them. You don't get the character's full thoughts or emotions. Sure, you get a glimpse. But it's not the same. It's not that characters personal emotions it's a take on it. But I grew to like Tink's version. There was many things I loved about this book. MANY!

  I am officially #TeamTigerLily! After this book...I hate Wendy! HATE!!! I know, strong word but strong word needed! She..grrrr! Even though Tiger Lily bugged me at times because of her lack to show emotions and her too strong headedness, I came to peace with that's just who she was. And Peter still loved her for it. Again, different Peter but I still loved him too! And Pine Sap! Dudes! I loved him! From the very beginning. Yes I did. EEP! And I love how Jodi tied in stuff from the original story too but gave them a perfect twist. Like the ticking crocodile, and the boat ride with Hook and Tiger Lily. And then Smee! I loved the take on Smee! AND!!! The lost boys!!! <3

  Tiger Lily is a an exotic and beautiful re-telling of the love story we all failed to know. A heart warming (and breaking) story that left me breathless at the end. It's true. The last chapter I failed to breath. It was devastating!! I easily fell in love with Tiger Lily and Peter's love story. Their love was so innocent and touching! I found myself lost in the pages of this book at times One moment I was on page 22 and then before I know it I was on 220! Even though I didn't get my Puck-Peter, this book was great! I highly recommend it.

4 of 5 wonderful stars!!

Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.

Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.

Well, sort of.

Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.

It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding--and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.

As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift. {Goodreads}

~Review:
  Shade was...amazing. I seriously don't know what took me so long to read this book, this series! It is oh so unique and I fell head over heals for the book and well...both boys! ;) First point of mind blowing uniqueness: The Shift. Cool or not so cool? Uhmm..both. The Shift is a time. Everyone born after the Shift has the ability to see and communicate to ghosts. For high school junior, Aura (btw awesome name!!), its a curse. But it pays well right? Ya, she works as a translator for her lawyer aunt. But most of the time, she just likes to pretend she can't see or hear the ghosts. That is until her boyfriend Logan dies. O my!! That...I didn't think it was going to be that sad when he died..how he died..not so sad...a little steamy and high?? ;)...but the aftermath was devastating!

  I loved Logan! He was so awesome, caring, and totally into both Aura and his music! And uhm...HOT! Then there is Zachary, the new foreign exchange student. Guys, let me tell you now, I am a huge sucker for accents. I love them! Except German..no offense I just kinda..don't. And to be honest...Scottish accents didnt really interest me..then I met Zachary. Holy shiz you guys! This boy is hot to the capital H!! And he is super sweet and absolutely adorable!! Both boys are purely amazing and..I can't decide. Too hard! But, lets see how book 2 and 3 goes for me.

  Then there is Aura. She was pretty cool. I really liked her! She has a hard life. Logan was what made it better for her. Then he died. Leaving her broken and empty. I am so excited to keep reading 1.) for her relationship status and 2.) to see where this "first" stuff goes! That really interested me and I totally need the last books ASAP! I loved every character Mrs. Smith created and the cool world she built up! Normal, with a paranormal twist. But the twist didn't totally eat up the normal ya know? I hope that makes sense haha

  Shade is an amazing read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Incredibly unique from the writing, the ghostly twist and the love that breaks your heart and manages to survive even death. The love is truly beautiful and I can't wait to go out and buy the last two books! If you haven't yet read these books get on it. Don't wait any longer. My mistake: waiting this long to read it!

4.5 of 5 wonderful stars!

{Review} The Forsaken by Lisa M Stasse

The Forsaken
Series: The Forsaken (#1)
Author: Lisa M Stasse
Release Date: July 10, 2012
by, Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Source: *an ARC was provided for review purposes*
Pages: 375
A thought-provoking and exciting start to a riveting new dystopian trilogy.

As an obedient orphan of the U.N.A. (the super-country that was once Mexico, the U.S., and Canada), Alenna learned at an early age to blend in and be quiet—having your parents taken by the police will do that to a girl. But Alenna can’t help but stand out when she fails a test that all sixteen-year-olds have to take: The test says she has a high capacity for brutal violence, and so she is sent to The Wheel, an island where all would-be criminals end up.

The life expectancy of prisoners on The Wheel is just two years, but with dirty, violent, and chaotic conditions, the time seems a lot longer as Alenna is forced to deal with civil wars for land ownership and machines that snatch kids out of their makeshift homes. Desperate, she and the other prisoners concoct a potentially fatal plan to flee the island. Survival may seem impossible, but Alenna is determined to achieve it anyway. {Goodreads}

~Trailer:
Woah! I absolutely love this trailer!! So cool!
~Review:

  I was so happy to receive an advanced readers copy of The Forsaken! Miss Stasse is one of the sweetest authors and I was thrilled to read her book! But even though the author may be nice....when it comes down to a review...you have to be honest. Good or Bad? SOOO good! I loved this book! I especially loved how the setting wasnt so far in the future. Today, most dystopian books are set where the new government has been around for decades or centuries. This one was fresh and new. Which made it that much more believable. I loved the world set up.

  Now, nothing is cooler than the Wheel, a place where those teens who have failed the personality test are sent...to die (basically). With harsh conditions, wild animals, and a crazy brainwashed tribe of teens....the Wheel is someplace I do not want to be sent. But...at the same time..I do...no, I don't..maybe? There is seriously danger surrounding you! This place is crazy intense and super scary. I loved it! And another thing I loved...the characters! My fav...Daniel haha idk why but I just did! But he has his secrets...secrets that may just tie him to the enemy tribe...dude! Those guys were freaky! *shivers* Ya, no chit-chat with those brain-washed crazies!!

  And the main character, Alenna, was absolutely awesome! I loved how she wasn't the hard-as-steal kick ass character but also wasn't the poor-me-I-can't-do-this whinny character that everyone hates. She was her own mix. Her own kick-ass character that I loved! Yes, she wasn't slaying every bad guy she came across with....and she was whinny at times..but...do you know what? After she whined, she would see it and try hard to face that fear and become better..even if she sucked at first. She never gave up. She was real, reliable, relatable, believable. Who the hell goes from city girl to goddess warrior in one day? No one! You have to be trained, work hard, learn to survive! And that is exactly what Alenna did. And that's why I liked her so much. She's not afraid to admit she is scared but she doesn't let that fear consume her. Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

"'That's llife on the wheel for you.' She looks me square in the face. 'Having second thoughts?'
Definately! But I'm still going.'"

  See? She is scared..but she is willing to do what she needs to do anyways! Love her! Haha and...insert romance....I loved Liam and Alenna! Their relationship didn't move to fast but when you are on the wheel...you kinda have to seize the moment you know? So fast but..not too fast. And it was innocent and so very cute! Can't wait for more!! :D

  With danger lurking in every shadow, crazy blood-thirsty teenagers, and innocent love, The Forsaken was a pleasant surprise. For me, even better than the Hunger Games! While reading the HG at times I felt the characters lacked depth, but The Forsaken's characters were real and had the depth I like all characters to have. The Wheel was intense and crazily scary! Lisa's writing pulled me in and had me wanting more when it all ended! I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. A great debut title and a new favorite series! If you are a fan of Divergent and the Hunger Games, you will love this book too! Get your little hands on a copy when you can!

{Follow Friday} .....or Thursday?? #25

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

~This Week's Features:
~This Week's Question:

What would you do over if you were to start your blog again from scratch?

~My Answer:
Uhm, first things first....I would try to stick with one blog design. I have changed my design like..5 times?? Since i first started. And...yes, I changed again. But I am hoping this 5th time will stick longer than all of the others.
Another thing would be my review layout. My beginning reviews were more rants than actually reviews. More girly opinions than info that helps you our followers get a good idea about whether the book is worth it or not. But that, is just something all new bloggers have to go through I guess! ^-^
Idk about anything else...maybe interact with other bloggers blogs and not just on Twitter?? I try to communicate as much as possible...I reply to comments all the time I just don't go over to the other's peoples blogs as much as I would like.

What about you?? Leave your link in the comments and I'll be sure to check it out!
Hope you all have a great day! Happy Friday!!! :D

{Waiting on Wednesday} (28) Dearly, Beloved by Lia Habel

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine.

~This week I'm waiting on.......

Dearly, Beloved
Series: Gone With the Respiration (#2)
Author: Lia Habel
Release Date: September 25, 2012
Can the living coexist with the living dead?

That’s the question that has New Victorian society fiercely divided ever since the mysterious plague known as “The Laz” hit the city of New London and turned thousands into walking corpses. But while some of these zombies are mindless monsters, hungry for human flesh, others can still think, speak, reason, and control their ravenous new appetites.

Just ask Nora Dearly, the young lady of means who was nearly kidnapped by a band of sinister zombies but valiantly rescued by a dashing young man . . . of the dead variety.

Nora and her savior, the young zombie soldier Bram Griswold, fell hopelessly in love. But others feel only fear and loathing for the reanimated dead. Now, as tensions grow between pro- and anti-zombie factions, battle lines are being drawn in the streets. And though Bram is no longer in the New Victorian army, he and his ex-commando zombie comrades are determined to help keep the peace. That means taking a dangerous stand between The Changed, a radical group of sentient zombies fighting for survival, and The Murder, a masked squad of urban guerrillas hellbent on destroying the living dead. But zombies aren’t the only ones in danger: Their living allies are also in The Murder’s crosshairs, and for one vengeful zealot, Nora Dearly is the number one target.

As paranoia, prejudice, and terrorist attacks threaten to plunge the city into full-scale war, Nora’s scientist father and his team continue their desperate race to unlock the secrets of “The Laz” and find a cure. But their efforts may be doomed when a mysterious zombie appears bearing an entirely new strain of the virus—and the nation of New Victoria braces for a new wave of the apocalypse.

Lia Habel’s spellbinding, suspenseful sequel to Dearly, Departed takes her imaginative mash-up of period romance, futuristic thriller, and zombie drama to a whole new level of innovative and irresistible storytelling. {Goodreads}

{Review} Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel

Dearly Departed
Series: Gone With the Respiration (#1)
Author: Lia Habel
Release Date: October 18, 2011
by, Del Rey
Source: Bought
Love can never die.

Love conquers all, so they say. But can Cupid’s arrow pierce the hearts of the living and the dead—or rather, the undead? Can a proper young Victorian lady find true love in the arms of a dashing zombie?

The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria—a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. A teenager in high society, Nora Dearly is far more interested in military history and her country’s political unrest than in tea parties and debutante balls. But after her beloved parents die, Nora is left at the mercy of her domineering aunt, a social-climbing spendthrift who has squandered the family fortune and now plans to marry her niece off for money. For Nora, no fate could be more horrible—until she’s nearly kidnapped by an army of walking corpses.

But fate is just getting started with Nora. Catapulted from her world of drawing-room civility, she’s suddenly gunning down ravenous zombies alongside mysterious black-clad commandos and confronting “The Laz,” a fatal virus that raises the dead—and hell along with them. Hardly ideal circumstances. Then Nora meets Bram Griswold, a young soldier who is brave, handsome, noble . . . and dead. But as is the case with the rest of his special undead unit, luck and modern science have enabled Bram to hold on to his mind, his manners, and his body parts. And when his bond of trust with Nora turns to tenderness, there’s no turning back. Eventually, they know, the disease will win, separating the star-crossed lovers forever. But until then, beating or not, their hearts will have what they desire.

In Dearly, Departed, romance meets walking-dead thriller, spawning a madly imaginative novel of rip-roaring adventure, spine-tingling suspense, and macabre comedy that forever redefines the concept of undying love. {Goodreads}
~Review:
  Zombie book number two....my reaction...HOLY FREAKING MOTHER OF PEARLS!!!!!! This book is so different from the first zombie book I read: Die For Me. While Die For Me is still a zombie book...it is better classified as a revenant book. Yes, they are zombies but not the flesh-eating-corpse-looking-mindless zombies that you normally imagine when you hear the word..."zombie". Now with Dearly, Departed....that is exactly what you get and exactly what I wanted...but 100x better!

  I don't even know where to begin on the list of things that made this book so good. First off, I guess, would have to be what the book is. Ya, like, its genre. It is a dystopian, steampunk, paranoramal romance, action, thriller...all wrapped up into one! Woah. I know! It blew my mind too. This book being all that was said above..made it absolutely amazing! I am forever in love with the Victorian Age. Zombies with manners...ya mind blown twice already I know! ;D Yes, some of those zombies aren't so bad they have manners! They have normal thoughts. feelings, emotions. This book just continued to blow my mind. Page after page, after wonderful page!

  I loved everything from each character: zombie and human, the witty humor between those characters, the awesome butt-kicking zombie lore, the cool gadgets and goodness..everything! I especially loved the different POV's as vast as they were. Yupp! Not just Nora's POV, not Nora and Bram's POV but also Victor's, Pamelah's, and Wolfe's!!! I loved getting to see the world throught there eyes!! This book was well thought out and ingeniously writin out!

  Dearly, Departed  was oh-so unique, captivating and just plain out awesome. This is a book I will never forget and look forward to reading over and over. While it gave me goose-bumps at some parts it also gave me butterflies with Bram and Norah's unique love. You understood the new world and how it came to be without being dragged through a boring and long history. She made it simple. sweet. but yet understandable and in a neatly disguised way not a BAM! Let me give you a run down of all that happened. I enjoyed how the history of the New Victorian era came to be. I am soo excited to read the second book! Both cover's are absolutely gorgeous! I am now a great fan of both zombies and Lia Habel. Can't wait to see what she has in store!! :D Wonderfully amazing!! I really loved this book! ..Can you tell? ;)

Trailer Feature: Sam Cruz's Infallible Guide to Getting Girls

Hey guys!!! I am here with a trailer feature today! Take a look:

  Hahaha I absolutely love this book trailer! It's got humor! And it totally sold me! When Tellulah asked me to feature her trailer I knew I had to read the book after watching the trailer! Hook, line and sinker ;) So lucky me!! She also wanted me to review her book! Super excited! What do you think? :D

Here is the book and it's details!
Sam Cruz's Infallible Guide to Getting Girls
Author: Tellulah Darling
Release Date: October 17, 2012
Why the hell can’t chicks be more like guys?

That question plagues high school senior Sam Cruz. Sam is perfectly happy being a player. He just wishes girls wouldn’t change the game from sex to relationships. It makes him look like an asshole. But when Sam’s best friend, Ally Klinger, gets dumped, she begs him to transform her into someone who can screw around then screw off. No risk of heartbreak that way. It’s Sam’s chance to create the perfect female AND cheer up his best friend. Armed with Sam’s Three Step Guide to Backseat Success, Ally gets the game better than Sam thought she would and before long, Sam has his wish: the female version of himself. Too bad it’s driving him nuts. Told from Sam’s and Ally's alternating POVs, Sam Cruz’s Infallible Guide to Getting Girls is a fast-paced romantic comedy that follows these teens as they navigate the minefield of sex, love, and friendship.
This book contains strong language, drinking, euphemisms, and lots of “bow chicka wow wow.”  {Goodreads}

A romantic and empowering book about bullying
Noelle's life is all about survival. Even her best friend doesn't know how much she gets bullied, or the ways her mom neglects her. Noelle's kept so much about her life a secret for so long that when her longtime crush Julian Porter starts paying attention to her, she's terrified. Surely it's safer to stay hidden than to risk the pain of a broken heart. But when the antagonism of her classmates takes a dramatic turn, Noelle realizes it's time to stand up for herself--and for the love that keeps her holding on. {Goodreads}

~Review:
  So, apparently I have been on a contemporary kick..idk just have! One contemporary after the other. And the good news? They have all been absolutely fantastic!! But this one isn't a cute love story. Yes, there is Julian but there is far more important things going on than just Julian. I have only read one other book that deals with bullying and that was Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. That book was amazing and really impacted me. The whole snow ball affect...wow. But I'm not hear to talk about that book today..I already did my review on that one ;)

  I don't think we as teenagers...or even grown adults know the impact we have. How one word, one gesture, one look can hurt far worse than we can imagine. We all know bullying is a problem. Millions of dollars have gone into programs for anti-bullying. But honestly, are those programs going to be what stops bullying? No. And if we are honest, we will never be able to stop it...we can try and strive...but the choice is in the people. Those people are the bullies...sometimes those bullies don't even know they are the bullies...another problem. And we can't fully understand it all at times because we don't know. Plain and simple. Those who aren't bullied can't even begin to understand. And that goes for those who aren't the bullies.

  This book, though, gives us a small insight into the lives of those being bullied. What it might feel like, the thoughts that go on, the lives those victims live. And it hurt. It really hurt emotionally to read about what Noelle had to go through. But through it all she was strong. And I think that is where we can help. To give the people who are bullied by giving them hope. To give reassurance just with a simple smile, a simple "have a good day", or an invitation to go to the movies or what not. But like in this book...it is easier said than done.

  Keep Holding on is a hard hitting emotional read with real life characters and real life instances. This book will impact you in more ways than one. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Susane Colasanti's writing was believable and likeable. Some books just tend to leave little impacts on your life...and this was one of them. Honestly, sometimes there were parts I felt like it was missing something but not enough times to where I was willing to put the book down..for good. Do I recommend this book? Yes. :) And as far as rating goes....
