{Waiting on Wednesday} #36 If I Should Die by Amy Plum

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine.

This week I'm waiting on.....

If I Should Die
Author: Amy Plum
Release Date: May 7, 2013
by, HarperTeen
I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.
Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.
It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.
After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?{Goodreads}

This is one of my all time favorite series!! It is what drove my Paris seaking heart...my obsession with all things Europe...the reason I hope to travel there one day, learn French, and meet a zombie/revenant boy of my own. This series is super good and the ending of the last one killed me!! I need this book ASAP! The author is absolutely amazing and cheery and so nice! I love everything about this book series! And hello!!! Their covers!! I have to say..the gold, amber, orange, green color scheme surprised me but it is still gorgeous! It is absolutely stunning!! The background...everything! But uh..who's creepy shadow is that!?

Haha anyways...I am so stoked for this trilogy finale...and so super scared at the same time...It's one of those books I am going to stare at afraid to open its pages then jump right into it....I will cry my eyes out though if something bad happens! I have no clue what to expect..I mean...that ending left you in depression so...let's see what happens I guess...

What about you?
What are you waiting on this week?

Not only do I get to spotlight an awesome author but...
I also get to honor a book birthday!!
Happy Book Birthday to Ellie James and her trilogy finale...
Fragile Darkness!!! <3
So..let's get started with the fun shall we!!? :D

The Author:
Most people who know Ellie think she’s your nice, average wife and mom of two little kids. They see someone who does all that normal stuff, like grocery shopping, going to soccer games, and somehow always forgetting to get the house cleaned and laundry done.
What they don't know is that more often than not, this LSU J-School alum is somewhere far, far away, deeply embroiled in solving a riddle or puzzle or crime, testing the limits of possibility, exploring the unexplained, and holding her breath while two people fall in love.
Regardless of which world Ellie’s in, she loves rain and wind and thunder and lightning; the first warm kiss of spring and the first cool whisper of fall; family, friends, and animals; dreams and happy endings; Lost and Fringe; Arcade Fire and Dave Matthews, and last but not least…warm gooey chocolate chip cookies.

The Interview:
1. Your book *Fragile Darkness* comes out tomorrow! What are you most excited for readers to see in this final book?
Great question! Writing a series is a fascinating experience. As the characters grow and change, each book takes on its own, unique flavor. With the Midnight Dragonfly series, the first book, Shattered Dreams, was all about discovery: discovery of Trinity’s psychic abilities, her mysterious heritage, herself, and some pretty important people in her life. By the time the second book, Broken Illusions, roles along, Trinity is much more comfortable with all she learned in the first book, and she’s taking action with it. She’s exploring and experimenting, and as such, taking risks and learning even more. With the third book, Fragile Darkness, I’d have to say what I’m most excited about is the emotional payoff. There’s been so much building throughout the series, and it all comes to a head in Fragile, especially Trinity’s relationship with Dylan. At the end of Broken, she was finally surrendering to the powerful draw of her feelings for him, and yet, events at the end of Broken change everything. It’s almost impossible for them to be together now. It’s a tough journey those two are taking, a journey which really explodes onto the page in Fragile J
2. How was it hearing that your book, your creation, was going to be published? What were your first thoughts?
In a word, fantastic. Trinity’s story came to me in a dream, or at least the opening scene did. It was amazing how quickly the kernel of an idea spun itself into something so much more. Truly, it’s as if this story is happening in some alternate universe, and I’ve simply tapped into it J  Of course, after that initial rush of excitement come all the feelings of doing the story justice. For me, the books I write play in my mind like movies. I live them. I feel them. When my characters hurt, I hurt. When they’re excited, I’m giddy. When they’re afraid, my heart races. When they fall in love, so do I. As a writer, then, my challenge to myself is to portray the story in such a manner than readers feel and see what I’m seeing, too.
3. I've heard that when an author finishes a series they feel a part of them is over as well. Is this true? What are you going to miss most in the series?
Man, this is so true. It’s not really like a part of me is over, but more like some friends I care deeply about have gone away. Not dead or anything, but like they’ve moved to another part of the world, so far away that they won’t be part of my daily life anymore. And it IS hard letting go. Writing is an intimate experience, especially first person, especially a series. I’ve spent three years with Trinity and Dylan and Aunt Sara, Jim and Julian and Grace, DeMarcus and all the others.  They’re real to me. I’ve delved into their psyches. I’ve gone with them to the edge, fallen with them when they’ve gone over, and scrambled to help them pick up the pieces in the aftermath. That’s a lot to let go of.

As to what I’ll miss the most…basically everything. I’ve loved watching Trinity come into her own. I’ve loved watching her relationship build with Aunt Sara. Watching her and Dylan find each other again. Helping her explore just how far her abilities can take her. Sigh.  Maybe this isn’t the end, after all J
4. Who is your favorite character to write about in Shattered Dreams?
You know, that’s a funny question…or at least, the answer is. I’ve been talking with some friends about this, how a series about Trinity has morphed into Dylan’s story. The Fourcade men, Dylan and his father Jim, fascinate me. They have an energy that crackles whenever they’re on the page. I think that’s why I’ve been writing a series of Secret Scenes featuring Dylan’s point-of-view J  Because of his Native American heritage, he has a perspective on the world not normally found in eighteen year olds, but exactly what Trinity needs!
5. What is the hardest thing in the author business? The easiest?
Another great question! The easiest part is the characters. Once they form, they become so vivid to me, it’s like they’re part of me and I’m part of them, and from there, they take over. I feel what they feel, want what they want. Hurt when they hurt. Sometimes that’s emotionally tough, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

As for the hardest part…I think it’s letting go. I could fiddle with my stories forever, letting my characters turn left instead of right and exploring what happens next. There are so many possibilities, it’s tough to choose one and run with it. With every book I’ve written, there’s something I’d love to change, all the way from adjusting an existing scene to scrapping it altogether and replacing it with something completely different.
6. If you could go back to the teenage years and date any character from any book, who would it be and why?
You know, I wanted to answer with a character from another series, but the truth of the matter is, it’s Dylan. It’s always been Dylan. I think that’s what he is, the manifestation of all my hopes and dreams when I was in my teenage years. He’s the guy who would have swept me off my feet: dark and mysterious, quiet, edgy on the outside but sincere and deep on the inside, a guy who doesn’t crowd or control, who’s confident enough in himself and what lies ahead to step back and let life play, but who, somehow, is always there when you need him. That’s a pretty powerful combination….or at least it is for me ;)
7. Are there any new projects you are starting on? If so, care to share? ;)
Yes! There is a new project, one that’s in the germination phase. It started with a simple, one sentence, “What if” idea, and from there it’s spinning into something that leaves me more than a little breathless. It’s too early to say anything, but I can promise you my favorite concoction: action, adventure, mystery, and romance, plus a healthy does of the Unexplained!

And this picture…..this is the only hint I can give you J

Sixteen-year-old Trinity Monsour wants nothing more than to live a normal life. But that isn’t as easy as it seems. Trinity is different. She is special. She sees visions, and for those she’s seen, it’s already too late.
Trinity arrives on her aunt’s doorstep in New Orleans with virtually no knowledge of her mysterious heritage. She begins settling into life at a new school and even starts making friends. But all too quickly her dreams accelerate; twisted, terrifying visions of a girl locked in a dark room. And when the head cheerleader, Jessica, goes missing, Trinity knows she has no choice but to step forward with what she’s seen.
But people believe that Trinity has information about Jessica’s disappearance not because of a dream, but because she is involved. She is kind-of dating Jessica’s ex-boyfriend, Chase, and Jessica did pull a nasty prank on Trinity. Revenge seems like the likeliest scenario.
Nothing prepares Trinity for the dark odyssey that ensues while searching for Jessica, including the surprising romance she finds with Chase, or the shocking truths she learns, not just about the girl who has gone missing, but the past that has been hidden from her.{Goodreads}

{Review} Tempest by Jenna-Lynne Duncan

Tempest
Series: Hurricane #1.5
Author: Jenna-Lynne Duncan
Release Date: November 23, 2012
Source: *a copy was provided by the author for review purposes*
Format: E-book
Hayden Boudreaux couldn't decide which was worse— that he was falling in love with a mortal or that the only way to break his family's centuries-old curse would be to kill her. Of all that he was certain was the more time he spent with her, the more he knew he would do anything to protect Adriana Alexander, including sacrificing his eternity. What he wouldn't expect was that Luke - his brother that hated Ana, who wanted to kill her - would decide he would want her as his own.{Goodreads}
~Review:
Let me just start off with...I am totally Team Luke. So, maybe that totally makes me a wee-bit biased. Just a wee bit.

Anyways, even though I totally love Luke...I still really like Hayden. Both boys are great but you know..lil 'ol be likes the mysterious bad boys...even though Luke isn't bad...just mysterious. Hayden is sweet and he totally loves Ana/Adriana. (so does Luke!!..ok I'll stop now) He is loyal and honest. There is not a doubt that he would do anything and everything for Ana and I loved seeing that play out more in this little novella. This book basically goes everything that happened in Hurricane  just very much summarized....and from Hayden's POV of course. Ya, so everything that we read but shorter, skipping over some main events.

Obviously if it is from Hayden's POV there is going to be more behind the scenes and it will be shorter. And it was. But that is what a novella is for..to give some knowledge for in between books. But here is what I need to get at I guess...Yes, I like Hayden. It was kinda cool to see his point of view but...I didn't think it was all that necessary  Again, novellas (.5's, 1.5's, 2.5's, etc) are meant to give knowledge to the readers about what was going on between certain scenes, before the book, in between books. This was just a summary of what we already read. The difference being it was shorter and from Hayden's POV. That was pretty much it.  I

It was nothing we didn't already know. Even if it was intended for a more romantic take like Twilight being taken on by Edward, we had already saw his love and because he was such an open book pretty much with his feelings with Ana...I didn't see the necessity. What I would have enjoyed more was it being from Luke's POV (again..here is where some may think I am biased...oh wells.) I mean...bias aside...it would have made more sense. Luke's POV would have given needed knowledge. From the very beginning we knew that Hayden was infatuated with Ana. He may have been criptick and a bit reserved at times but through it all we as readers knew he still liked her a lot...there was just something that was holding him back but with Luke...He hated her. He wanted to kill her. He was focused on the goal and wasn't willing to let feelings get caught up in his mission. Then all of a sudden...BAM! He loves her to.

The novella from his POV would have let us in to his more mysterious character. We might have gotten to see the hurt behind his parents death...the need that drove him to kill Ana. When did the light switch on and he decided he loved her too? When did she become The One? I merely think (again bias totally aside) it would have filled a bigger purpose. We knew more about Hayden because Hurricane--in a sense--was Ana and his book. They were the main love interest. The plot revolved around Ana and Hayden's love. We got side swept with Luke's love. I mean...he hated her!! Was I the only one thrown off guard? I just don't know I really would have liked it from Luke's POV. To me it would have served a better purpose. Let you gain knowledge of the things we didn't know.

I liked Tempest. I enjoyed seeing Hayden's view. I am super duper excited for Aftermath!!! So, even though it may sound like I didn't enjoy this novella...and I am complaining...I am not. I enjoyed it. It was really good! A bit blotchy at times but again....it kinda had to be. It isn't absolutely necessary to read but it was fun to read...worth it! :) If you are a fan of Hurricane then definitely read it! And if you are TeamHayden then ya....you may want to really read it and maybe you will like it more than me hahaha but what can I say...I am a Luke kinda girl ;) So because the blotchy play and the fact I felt it unnecessary....nothing against the writing...or the series...!! It is still a good ranking I just wasnt completely thrilled with it :) SO can't wait for the next book though!! Please give me!! give me!! give me!! (oh and psst....it has a sneak peak to it!!...I skipped it cus..well I always do when there are ones....I like to be surprised...I feel more needy if I read them hahaha)

{Review} Protecting Truth by Michelle Warren

Source: *A review copy was provided by the author for review purposes*
Format: E-book

Seraphina’s keeping a secret from her Wandering team: she’s perfecting her fighting skills. But telling Sam and Bishop the truth would only alert them to her plan: to go back in time, save her mom, and finish what she started. With the help of Turner, Bishop’s handsome twin, she progresses toward her goal but plummets deeper into dangerous territory where the lines of friendship and romance are blurred. One passionate kiss changes everything, leading Sera to unravel a shocking web of family secrets, heartbreaking ulterior motives, and sinister agendas. Love and lies collide in a haunting climax, where the truest souls may not survive. {Goodreads}
~Review:
Well, to start off I loved Wander Dust. The story line and time-travel element was so unique and I quickly fell for this series. The characters were pretty darn awesome too. At the start of this book we have Sera kicking some booty. She has been working hard to progress her fighting skills so that she can go back and save her mother. But she has a protector for that right? Ya, but she plans on going alone so that no one she cares about can get hurt. Hence the fighting training. One big catch though...she is getting better than Bishop and....Bishop's twin brother, Turner, has been helping her all summer break long. Ya, that's one way to heat up the already feuding brothers.. especially because..there is a teensy little spark between Sera and Turner...even though Sera keeps denying it. Oh! And there is something Bishop is hiding..something that can potentially ruin their perfect relationship. And!!! There is still danger lurking at every corner!!

This book was even better than the first! There were lies, betrayals, flirting, flirting with hot boys, returns of enemies...*takes deep breath* Protecting Truth had it all! And once again....I stayed up till 2 am finishing the book. See what you do Mrs. Warren!! ;) I loved seeing Sera become more independent and kick-butt. She is a pleasant protagonist to follow. And most pleasantly....Turner. I was in love with Bishop but we got to see a whole lot more of this twin of his and...I fell hard. Like, wow. Ya, he is just....haha ya. So, I have a new favorite!!! ;)

I seriously had so much fun reading this book. It had some more humor (thanks to Turner) and I like to laugh. The twists and the ENDING!!!! OMG!!!! You guys...that ending....I died!! Michelle Warren is one heck of a writer and I wish this series got more hype than it does. It deserves it! Protecting Truth is utterly amazing! I enjoyed staying past my bed time ;) flipping through its pages. I was hooked from the beginning and didn't want to put it down. I needed to finish it right then and there. No exceptions...including sleep! I am SO excited to see what happens in the final book. I *tears up* something big needs to happen cus that..that ending...simply will not do!!

Ugh guys, If you haven't picked up this series yet...do so. It has everything a good book needs. It is thrilling to the brim. Especially this book. It is amazing and creative and you will love it without a doubt. This review is pretty short but it has to do because there was way too much that went on for me to even begin to describe...this whole review would be filled with spoilers. Your just gonna have to trust me on how good it was. You all know I don't give out 5 stars to just an book. It seriously has to be pretty outstanding to make that mark and this book hit it. So.....

{Interview & Giveaway) C.J. Redwine, author of Defiance

Photobucket
How to end the holiday? It is Black Friday...you get lots of deals right?
Well, how bout this one!? One awesome interview with the lovely C.J. Redwine
AND!!! A giveaway at the end! So...let's get to it! :)

The Author:
Find her at:...~Website~Facebook~Twitter~Goodreads~
C.J. Redwine loves stilettos, lemon bars, and any movie starring Johnny Depp. She is the author of Defiance, the first in a post-apocalyptic fantasy trilogy from Balzer + Bray/Harper Collins. C.J. lives in Nashville with her husband, four kids, two cats, and one long-suffering dog. To learn more about C.J., visit her website.

The Interview:
1.  Defiance alternates from Rachel's pov to Logan's. Which character did you enjoy writing for the most? Why?  That's like asking me to choose between Johnny Depp and Girard Butler. The answer is always YES PLEASE. But if I must choose, I'll say Logan simply because he turned out to be awkward and funny in ways I never anticipated, and I enjoyed the challenge of writing from a logical left-brain perspective when in real life, I am the total opposite.
2. What experiences have you most enjoyed in being a writer?  So many! I love the feeling of completing a first draft, even though I know I'm going to turn around and rip it apart. I love the sense of accomplishment when a draft has gone through multiple revisions and is close to what I always intended to write in the first place. And I really love hearing from readers who've connected with my story and my characters.
3. Rachel and Logan stay strong through the worst times in the book. We may not be locked in dungeons or sent on dangerous quests while threatened to have our loved ones killed, but we go through hard times none the less. What advice would Logan and Rachel give to those going through struggles in life?  I think they've learned that family (either those you're born with or those you choose) matter and that we aren't meant to isolate ourselves when we're wounded. They've also learned that hope is precious, and that even though it's hard to see a light at the end of a long, dark road, it's important to find the courage to keep walking forward because healing takes time but it's worth it.
4. If you could take any characteristic from any of the characters in the book, which would it be? Why?  I love the way Rachel is just unapologetically herself, even though she knows she's different. She's out of step with the rest of her world, she's difficult to get close to and sometimes hard to love, but she values herself and when she changes anything about herself, it's because her heart tells her it's the right thing to do, not because she caves to pressure from anyone else. I think that's a valuable skill, and it's one I'm steadily learning to embrace for myself.
5. What can you tell us about book #2 in the Defiance Series? I can tell you the title will be revealed the first week of December, that the cover is HOLY COW AWESOME (and will be revealed in February), and that there are more secondary characters, more kissing, more fighting, more nefariousness, and more city-states. :)
6. How was it being able to walk into a book store and see your book on the shelf for the first time? It was both surreal and lovely!
7. What would you say makes Defiance different from most dystopia novels?  Well, Defiance is really a post-apocalyptic fantasy adventure. There are dystopian overtones in the city-state of Baalboden, but not every city-state is a dystopia. The culture of each city-state (there are 9) is determined by the government set up by its leader. So while most dystopian novels have a world that focuses on controlling the individual's choices, we have one man who is focused on that. If Rachel and Logan are successful in removing that man from power (and dealing with the additional threat that shows up in book 2), the dystopian aspects will disappear.     Also, Defiance has wing-less dragons that tunnel up from below the surface of the earth. And hot nerds with swords! :)

~Review:
Well, for starters...how cool is that trailer? And! How amazingly beautiful is that book cover!? Ya, I have some crazy book accessory love here ;) The trailer totally fit the kick-ass defiant feel to it! And that cover...the city in the cloak, the girl on the cover with brilliant red hair and idk my favorite thing is the forest and the cloak...and the city in the cloak! Awesome. And then the cover has this pretty metallic feel to it in person...beautiful!

This book was one of my most sought after releases! Then I scored an interview with the author! (Coming later on in the week!! Keep your eyes peeled! A giveaway comes along with it!!) What can I say? I am a sucker for anything that has defiance, rebellion, and kick-ass heroines! Power to the women! ;) And then of course everyone has been loving the dystopians right!? So, yes this was dystopian but it was also post-apocalyptic. It had this medieval feel to it too. I loved the world building! This book was very creative and inventive...just like Logan ;)

I loved Logan! He was smart, charming, and a tad awkward which made him completely and entirely adorable!! I loved his heart and his way of thinking. He was always one step ahead! What can I say...I like my boys smart! ;) I liked Rachel as well. She was an amazing fighter...and I am not just talking about her skills in battle/combat. The things this girl had to go through were tough...something no ordinary girl could cope with. Rachel is strong, loving, and a pain in the ass...what can I say! Her and Logan were cute to see...after awhile. Quick not...if you did not know this (I didn't until I started reading) the book takes place alternating between Rachel and Logan's POVs.

Anyways! Like I was saying...I didn't quite feel the love between them as much as I would like to have. They were cute...towards the end. They were in an awkward place. Rachel had admitted she loved him when she was 15 and he....didn't love her back. Ouch. So when the book picks up Rachel is stand-offish to Logan and vice versa. She claims to not love him anymore and then all of a sudden...they are in love...but they both don't show it. Ok, this happens...but normally there are stuff that happens that makes that little light bulb click on...not here. Just one day they realize it. I don't know...to me something was just...missing. But again they were still cute and they grew on me. I think I enjoyed reading from Logan's POV more though.

Defiance is an unique book that all dystopian/post-apocalyptic lovers will enjoy. I enjoyed the world and story line Mrs. Redwine created. Also I loved her characters..side and main a like. And her evils...loved them!! I loved hating the Commander. The Cursed One was awesome to fear. And quite frankly...gave me the chills! The ending was incredibly sad and I felt for Rachel and Logan. The writing was so real. I felt as if I was there along side Rachel and Logan! At times I felt a little lost at who and what was going on but other than that I loved it! Not my favorite dystopian/post-apocalyptic but I still enjoyed it. The ending left me only wanting more. This is a series I will most definitely keep track of. The ending truly saved it. It was feeling just ok to me but after the ending...I do want more. I want to see where this is all going to go. Unfortunately ..because of the lost feelings and the lack of true love between Rachel and Logan I felt I give this book the following rating but beyond that I adored the book and would still recommend it to all readers!

~Rating:
3.5 stars!!

{Interview & Giveaway} Elizabeth Richards, author of Black City

Photobucket
Zipidee Do Dah! Zipidee Aye! My oh my would you look at what I have for you today!!
I am so thrilled to have Mrs. Richards on the blog today!
Her book is one I am anticipating to read SO bad!!!
Without further a due...Welcome Elizabeth Richards!

The Author:

Elizabeth Richards is an award-winning journalist who spent her early career reviewing video games for a living before making the bold (or crazy) move to become a travel writer and editor, specializing in cruise holidays, despite suffering from terrible sea sickness.

In her spare time Elizabeth ran a successful lifestyle website aimed at teenage girls, where she got to interview many of her favorite bands, go to gigs and basically bag loads of free swag all in the name of "research".

More recently she worked as a website editor before deciding to pursue her dream of becoming an author. She now dedicates her time to writing fantasy books aimed at young adults. BLACK CITY is her debut novel.

The Interview:
1. What exactly are the Darklings?
I’ve heard Darklings be described as vampires, fey, and in one case, dragon-like creatures (I loved that one! I can see it – one Darkling species has wings, another has claws, and they all have these vivid, unusual eyes). Darklings drink blood and have fangs, so because of that, I would say they’re most like vampires, but to be honest, they are to vampires what wolves are to domesticated dogs. Similar, but not the same. They’re a unique species in their own right.
2. As a kid did you ever think to become an author, or did you have other careers in mind?
As a little girl, I thought I’d be an artist when I grew up. I loved to paint and draw, and was reading art history books when most girls my age were swooning over NKOTB photos in Smash Hits magazine (Gosh, showing my age there a bit!). But by the time I reached my mid-to-late teens, my passion for writing really developed. Whenever I got a spare moment at school, be it during registration, recess, study periods, and sometimes even during class, I’d be working on a story. I wasn't entirely sure what direction I wanted to take my writing career at that time, so I opted for screenwriting, as the course sounded amazing. I’m so glad I did, as I met my future husband on my first day at uni! After leaving uni, I worked my way up the ranks on several video games and travel magazines, before moving into web editing, then finally taking the plunge and becoming an author! So it’s been a bit of a twisty path to get here, but I think all that experience has really helped prepare me for this career.
3. We, as readers, take our characters very seriously. We fall in love with them, we hate them, we wish to be them. They are real to us in some sorts. What makes Ash and Natalie real to you?

Their imperfections. Ash can be a total jerk at times. Natalie can be thoughtless and spoil  They’re not these picture perfect people. They make mistakes, but what makes them real to me is they have the capacity to forgive, learn from their mistakes, and develop as people.

4. If you could read any book for the first time again, what would it be? Why?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I was SO excited when that book came out!  I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, and I’d been fantasizing about how the series would end for years. I went to a midnight launch, so I could get my hands on the book the minute it came out, then stayed up all night reading it. Those last few chapters blew me away. They were simply thrilling, and a great end to a terrific series. But I was so depressed when it was all over, I had to immediately start re-reading the entire series, just to try and get my Harry Potter fix!
5. Ah, the forbidden love. The story of lovers never meant to love has entranced readers since the beginning of time. Why do you think that is?
I think people are captivated by the idea that there could be someone out there who loves them so much, they’re willing to risk everything—even their life—to be with them. It’s so romantic and passionate. Plus, there’s a lot of dramatic potential in forbidden romances—the stakes are high, so readers really fear for the couple. They feel invested in the couple’s relationship, and just hope and pray their love survives against all odds, because it gives people hope that they’ll find a love that is just as strong and enduring in real life.

6. Your book covers are gorgeous! Are they what you had in mind when you saw your books?
Black City’s current cover is actually the second cover Penguin did for me. The first cover was very much what I was expecting, mainly because they asked me to fill out a questionnaire for the art department, so I had a fair idea of what I’d be getting. It was a lovely cover, and I was pleased with it. However, sales and marketing stepped in just before the Fall catalogue was due to go to press, and (as it turns out, very wisely) said the cover needed a revamp, and I have to stay I was blown-away by my new cover. It wasn't what I was expecting at all, but I simply love it. The shattering rose is just amazing—so striking, vivid and evocative of the themes in the book. I’m thrilled with it. Penguin’s art team are awesome!
7.  What book, if any, played a key root in influence for Black City?
There wasn’t a particular book that played a key influence in Black City. However, there are some aspects about Black City, which can be compared to other books. For instance, the United Sentry States is ruled by a tyrannical government headed by Purian Rose, which monitors your every move, sort of like Big Brother and the Party in Nineteen Eighty-Four. There’s a forbidden romance between a supernatural boy and a human, like Twilight. Plus, there’s a dystopian vibe, like Hunger Games. So it can be compared to other titles, but there wasn’t a specific influence.

~This Week's Question:

Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

~My Answer:
AHHH! Why!? Hahaha hmmm...I have no clue. That one is tough. Let's see...I wouldn't mind seeing LOL: Laugh Out Loud (with Miley Cyrus and Douglas Booth) become a book. I just watched this one and I loved it! It was cute and crazy! I would love to be able to see more thoughts and feelings from both Lola (Miley) and Kyle (Douglas) that books allow. They are teenagers in tough times, with lots of struggles. Seeing more into their heads would make it that much better! Alternating POVs of course ;)
Have you seen this movie? Did you like it? Would you like to see it in book style too?

What about you

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!!

~Review:
Where to start? Uhmm the cover? Uhhh gorgeous!!!!!! And the title! So adorable! I totally got it after reading the book! I love when the titles have a direct link to something in the story line! Michelle Warren was not only a brilliant cover and title creator...she was a fantastic writer! I loved her writing style and her creativity with Wander Dust!

Seraphina was a great protagonist. She was real and strong. Yes, I use the word "real" a lot when I refer to characters but it is one of my main needs in characters, in books. I have to be able to find something to relate to. It all can't be pure fiction. I need real. And this book had it. Props!! I liked all the characters! Even the bad ones! They all had these likeable things to them. Well...maybe not one of them...stupid girls ;) But I felt betrayed with the ones who I came to like. I felt a loss just like Sera. :( I LOVED Bishop!!!! O.M.G!!! British? Yes please! Brown hair, green eyes? Hell Yes!! And then on top of it all...he is your protector? An excuse to spend time with him? Double hell to the yes!! Give me!! ;D He was not just a pretty face though...no this boy is as sweet as it gets and...the most romantic thing? They can travel to exotic places thanks to the wandering abilities...also...in whatever time they want...as long as they have a relic of course!

Now you have to give props where props are due.....This was an awesome sci-fi time traveling book. I loved the "wander dust", relics, and team theories! I loved it all! It was all so awesome and thought out! I seriously wish I had the wanderer's powers! :( I want my own protector too ;)...just saying! I had so much fun reading this book! I didn't want it to end and then of course how it ended!! Thankfully, thanks to Michelle, I didn't have to but I guess in a way I do...I have books up to my ears peeps!! :( But omg, this book was amazing ya'll! I can't express any more how much I loved the theories of this time travel! I loved following this book around to how things fell in place and all! A-MAY-ZING!!

Wander Dust is excitingly unique. With its brilliant, enticing, and time-warping story line you are bound to be hooked from the very beginning! I had only ever read one time traveling book before and I found Wander Dust wonderfully refreshing! I loved Wander Dust! Once I got into it (which didn't take too long) I couldn't put it down. I totally recommend this book to any sci-fi time traveling lovers! And to all those who aren't! You will find yourself pleasantly surprised! It has a cute love story and awesome theories to tie you into the story. If I had one super power/paranormal power it definitely would be time-traveling! I am a history junky and that would be an easy way to get around history with the personal experience! I mean wow...Ya, guys read this! You won't regret it at all!

~Rating:
4.5 out of 5 wonderful stars!!!

Have a great day!! <3
