Follow Friday #50

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

~This Week's Features:

~This Week's Question:
What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?

~My Answer:

My favorite format is hardcover. I am very aware how technology is taking over. Everything is at the touch of a screen. You can download any book in seconds...SECONDS! It's crazy! And even though I find it very convenient its just not the same as a hardcover copy! The joy of opening a brand new published book with its smell, touch and the awesome sound of the cover's turning. I know my apple devices have the page cover thing too but its just not the same and will never be. I like the kindle because you can read in the dark without light but.....you don't need to worry about your book running out of battery ;P

I like paperbacks too I just like hardcovers better because they are more durable therefore being more immortal. They last longer. I swear if they take away all physical copies and transfer everything to device I will start a rebellion! It would be one more step into the dystopia format going on today. *shivers* I may not be one kick ass girl with bad ass combat skills but I will die fighting that cause ;D

What about you?

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!!

  1. I love the real thing too. The convenience of the Kindle is great (and so is the price), but I still love holding a real book in my hands. New GFC follower. Happy Friday!

  2. I can't decide which one I like better! They're so many pros and cons to both! I guess I lean more towards physical copies though because you get the full reading experience. You know what I mean?

  4. Hopping through. I certainly love the convenience of having books in an instant. No driving 20 minutes to the bookstore or waiting 2 days for Amazon.

  5. YAY!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one to say I love the smell of a new hardcover book!!!! eBooks are great, but there is nothing like placing your brand new hardcover book on your bookshelf *sigh*

  6. I know what you mean - it's a pain when my Kindle dies when I'm in the middle of reading a book (rarely happens, but it has!). I still love the printed book despite my new addiction to ebooks!

  9. I still refer to hardcovers and paper backs as the "real" books. Thought ebooks are the most convenient, physical copies always win me over.

  11. I totally get that - paperbacks are easier to carry around and acquire, but hardbacks are just more durable. Technology is kind of taking over the world, huh?

  12. I prefer hardcovers because I get so annoyed when a paperback comes in the mail dented. Even the smallest dent bothers me so much and I love how hardcovers are harder to damage. Old follower :)

  14. I totally agree, hardcovers are the way forward! eReaders are bound to break every now and then but if you treat your book right it will stay in tact forever :) New follower via GFC.
