The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey #4)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Publish Date: October 25, 2011
Pages: 361
Ash, former prince of the Winter Court, gave up everything. His title, his home, even his vow of loyalty. All for a girl… and all for nothing.

Unless he can earn a soul.

To cold, emotionless faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.

Then Meghan Chase—a half human, half fey slip of a girl— smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.

With the (unwelcome) company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end— a quest to find a way to honor his solemn vow to stand by Meghan’s side.

To survive in the Iron realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. At least, no one has ever passed to tell the tale.

And then Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that turns reality upside down, challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice. {Goodreads}
HOLY CRAP!!!!!! >Those were the first words that came to mind after reading this amazing book! I have enjoyed these books sooo much and am SO very sad that they finally ended. These were the books that are responsible for awakening my book obsession!

Julie Kagawa knows how to create the most beautiful, exciting, thrilling, emotional book and characters! I loved watching each individual character grow and capture my every thought and make me feel their every emotion.  I was sooo excited to receive this book and when I finally received it I completely devoured it!

Normally when you read the last book in a series you are left with disappointment because you had such high expectations. I have experienced this many times before. As for this book...this was not the deal with this one. This book actually managed to exceed all my expectations!! Gosh I don't know what else to say. I will either repeat myself or well, no I don't know enough words to express how amazing this book was, how amazing this series was!!

Julie is definitely one of my favorite authors of all time. Not only because of her ability to develope the best characters but with her ability to make you feel every heart wrenching moment, every heart quickening moment, make you so angry you end up switching teams then go back again. I have always been able to pick my teams easily but with these characters: Ash the hot, forbidden, quiet, hurt Ice Prince the last son of Queen Mab of the Unseelie Court and Puck the hilarious, sweet, protective, outgoing, court jester to King Oberon of the Seelie Court!! I am Team Ash but I will always love Puck he is constantly making me laugh and hurt for him.

Meghan becomes such a strong character that I love and really really missed. This book is from Ash's point of view and even though I loved reading his every thought, his past, and his mixed emotions I did miss Meghan.

This book is about Ash's journey to find and earn a human soul that he can be with Meghan Chase who is now the Queen of the Iron Kingdom, a place Ash can not go. Iron is lethal to to fae. Ash would surely die without a soul. I loved the unexpected turn in those who accompany Ash on this journey. Although, I hated one specific thing that happens but I won't give that away.

The imagination in this books is unbelievable. You get a darker and scarier view of the Neverever as they all journey deeper and deeper to the end of the world. Unexpected twists and turns keep you guessing. Ash's struggles have you hurting for him. And most of all I loved to get a taste of Ash and Puck's past. They are so cute and lovable!! You know that no madder what they care about each other. :)

The ending...man the ending....I loved the ending!! It was so sad and breathtaking, and well you are just going to have to read it for yourself. hehehe

Now for some awesome quotes:
Warning!!!! Content may contain spoilers!!!

“You're here,' I murmured, reaching out to touch him, hardly believing this was real. 'You came back.' Ash's breath hitched, and he put his hand over mine.
'I came home.”~Ash and Meghan <3

“I have come from the End of the World.... From the River of Dreams, through the gauntlet and the Briar and the Deep Wyld, in order to stand before you today. I have but one request - to take my place at your side. To resume my duty as your knight, and to protect you and your kingdom for as long as I draw breath.”
~Ash
“I’m going to kill you one day,” I told him as we hurried after Grimalkin, back into the swampy marshland. It was not an idle threat.
Puck just laughed. “Yeah. You and everyone else, prince. Join the club.”
~Ash and Puck

"'Meghan Chase!' Puck roared, startling me into silence. I blinked, and he sneered at me. 'Yeah, your highness. I know what loss is. I've loved that girl since before she knew me. But I waited. I waited because I didn't wan't to lie about who I was. I wanted her to know the truth before anything else. So I waited, and I did my job. For years, I protected her, biding my time , until the day she went into the Neverever after her brother. And then you came along. And I saw the way she looked at you. And for the first time, I wanted to kill you as much as you wanted to kill me.'" ~Puck <3

Two containg Ash and two containing Puck!! Sigh...Swoon!!.... Faint!!!! :DDDDDDDD
Nothing can express my happiness and joy after reading these books!! Each character has a special place in my heart and forever will!!

To Ash my first love! To Meghan an awesome chica who I am completely jealous of. To Puck the amazing and hilarious prankster who I love! To Julie who is the genius I look to for inspiration!! To every little character who plays an important role in everything! And to the series itself that captured me in every way, took my breath away, encourage me to read non-stop and I regret for ending!! I cried, I laughed, I got angry, I cried again and again and again!! *Sigh* I don't know what else to say.....

Here is to the amazing Iron Fey Series and Julie Kagawa!! I am looking forward to the awesome spinoff and Julie's new series!! Come sooner!!! :D
